The IFA 2015 event is practically upon as and after plenty of teasing and and a brief mention at it’s Galaxy unpacked event earlier this month we can now officially report that Samsung has announced the Tizen-powered gear S2 smart watch. Although pricing and the release details weren’t discussed by Samsung it has revealed that this smartwatch will come in two variants: the regular gear S2 and the gear S2 Classic.  The classic gear S2 is aimed at those individuals and customers that choose a “more timeless view design, providing an stylish black finish with a matching genuine leather band”. This will add a lot of premium feel to the new smartwatches being launched by Samsung.

Samsung is also have reported to be working with a lot of third party partners and developers and saying that numerous applications have been specially optimized for the gear S2’s round interface and will be available at the time of launch. It sounds like there will be a good variety of third party applications to go with that rare in-house Tizen operating system, that Samsung tends to use for many of its wearable devices.

Although Samsung has only officially announced the smart watches there hasn’t been any mention of any kind of release date or pricing for the gear S2 as of yet, but Samsung has said that the regular version of the smartwatch will be available in either a dark grey case with the dark grey band or a silver case with a white band. and as expected Samsung will be showcasing it at their IFA 2015 press conference this week.
